The Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts is authorized to audit the books, records, vouchers, and accounts of county offices at least once every two years (see Ala. Code, 41-5-14 [1975]). This series consists of a summary narrative report of the Examiner and a financial statement of accounts. This record began in 1947 and continues to the present. The state's record copy of audit reports for local government units is scheduled as S-5-2, Audit Report - File Copies.
